Win a car in ZDNet.co.uk's Homebrew Challenge

[CLOSED]

ZDNet.co.uk and Intel are looking for a Homebrew champion — the UK's top tech labour of love, built in spare time. Show us what you've made, and your pet project could win you a Toyota Prius hybrid car, courtesy of Intel.

We're searching for the IT folks who round off the working day by going home, shutting the front door, and rolling their sleeves up to get stuck into their own pet tech project. Perhaps you've put in solid-state lighting in every room, or designed a home automation system with a web interface. Or maybe you've installed a distributed home entertainment set-up or a rack server in your garage. If that sounds familiar, we want to hear from you.

The best entry will win a blue Toyota Prius T-Spirit VVT-i car worth £20,000. The electric-petrol hybrid has eight airbags, electronic ABS, air-conditioning and tech features such as sat-nav and Bluetooth.*

Simply tell us about your project in a few hundred words or so, using the box below. It doesn't matter whether it's something you've been working on for a while, or something you come up with especially for the Homebrew Challenge.

If you want to do something extra, you can blog on your project in our new group blog, the Homebrew Blog. Post more descriptions, links to pictures, track your progress, tell us what challenges you overcame — this is the place to really dig deep into the project.

The competition closes 9 December, 2007. To enter, you must be a UK resident who is a ZDNet.co.uk member. We're giving away Homebrew T-shirts to the first 50 entrants as an incentive. Get typing now to enter the Homebrew Challenge.

The winner will receive, courtesy of Intel:

A Toyota Prius T-Spirit 1.5 VVT-i hybrid IPA, including:

  • First registration with DVLA
  • 12 months' road tax
  • Delivery to the winner’s front door
  • Full tank of fuel

Note: CNET Networks UK Ltd accepts no responsibility for any other costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize, including, without limitation, car insurance and servicing. The winner is responsible for obtaining and holding a valid and appropriate driving license and valid insurance (minimum of third party insurance). Our appointed car dealer will contact the winner, subject to their usual delivery terms and conditions. The car will not be delivered outside of the UK. *Note that a previously announced supplementary prize of a trip to an Intel fab has been withdrawn due to circumstances beyond our control.

As per our standard terms and conditions, CNET Networks UK Ltd accepts no liability in relation to any of the above. This includes, but is not limited too, accepting no responsibility for any misuse, damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the competition or accepting the prizes. Intel, Intel logo, Intel Inside, Intel Inside logo, Intel Leap ahead, Intel Leap ahead logo, Xeon, and Xeon Inside are trademarks of Intel Corp. in the US and other countries.
