Julien MacDonald laptop bag

Let's face it, laptop bags are not designed by designers. They are, quite clearly, designed by engineers. They are black (or, wow, grey), they have zipped pockets, and they always look like, well, bags for carrying laptops in. But what good is that? If you're going to a conference, you don't want to carry something with all the sex appeal of a corporate suitcase -- or, for that matter, something that screams 'please steal me, I contain a laptop'.
Finally someone has answered the call of women everywhere. Never mind the (male) reviewer who thinks the "fuchsia is hideous" -- this bag has it all. It looks great, it's by a proper designer, and it has pockets you can put things in rather than forcing you to drop mobile phone, lipstick and pen into a void also containing a USB cable and assorted tech gadgets. I want one. More than I want a laptop. And more than that -- I want the fuchsia one.

Canon EOS 300D

Everyone has a digital camera -- absolutely everyone. I'm surrounded by them. And as I click away with my sad little film camera (which, I have to say, has served me well over the years), I think of the day when I too can transfer images to PC, write them to CD, print them out, email them to friends and so on -- with my new Canon EOS 300D.
This £999 (inc. VAT) digital SLR has bells and whistles I don't understand, functions I'll never use and is out of my price range. But look at it: it looks like a proper camera. I could stand around looking like I'm making decisions about light, focus tracking and photograph composition when actually I'm trying to find the ‘on’ button. It does everything I need, and it'll make me look like I know what I'm doing. What more could I want?
